Harrison Ford plays Rick Deckard in director Ridley Scott’s 1982 cult classic Blade Runner
08 October 2013
Harrison Ford has revealed he has been in talks with director Ridley Scott to appear in a sequel to cult movie Blade Runner.
The original movie was a sleeper hit which had a lukewarm reception when it came out in 1982 but went on to gain popularity and has had an enduring appeal for movie fans.
During a visit to London, the US star confirmed to games and entertainment website IGN.com that he had been in discussion about a second film.
It was disclosed earlier in the year that Scott was keen to develop a sequel and screenwriter Michael Green had been hired to work on the script.
Ford played Rick Deckard, who tracked down robots known as replicants in the sci-fi thriller, which was based on a short story Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? by Philip K Dick.
While promoting his new film Ender’s Game, Ford admitted he had been in contact with Scott and said: “Yes, we’ve been chatting about it.”
The 71-year old actor added: “I truly admire Ridley as a man and as a director, and I would be very happy to engage again with him in the further telling of this story.”
Austin Mahone has a crush on Mila Kunis because she’s confident.
The 17-year-old isn’t short of female attention since picking up an MTV Video Music Award at this year’s event and has even been linked to brunette beauty Selena Gomez.
He’s always had a thing for Black Swan star Mila and is sure he could keep up with her, even though she’s 13 years older than him and dating Ashton Kutcher.
“Mila Kunis. All day,” he told British magazine Star of his top celebrity crush.
“Oh yeah, I could handle her. She’s confident, I like that.”
Austin has spent some time promoting his music in the UK and says he loves hearing the “cute” accent girls in Britain have.
However, there are also plenty of things that turn him off.
“I don’t like it when a girl is rude or disrespectful,” he said. “It’s important my mom and family like her.”
Austin and Selena sparked romance speculation when they were spotted together in Disneyland, California, in June.
The 21-year-old Spring Breakers star dated Justin Bieber in the past, who looks and sounds more than a little like Austin.
“I get [comparisons] a lot and it’s flattering, but I just want people to give me a chance to show that I’m different,” he sighed.
Austin has been working hard on his music and has also supported Taylor Swift on her Red Tour and Bridgit Mendler’s Summer Tour.
The Muppet characters will feature in a new Cbeebies series, The Furchester, in which a team of monsters run an “almost” world-class hotel.
The programme is intended to help youngsters develop problem-solving skills as they watch the puppets sort out muddles with the guests
The 52-episode series – which features hotel-owner Funella Furchester, her husband Furgus Fuzz, and daughter Phoebe – will be screened in autumn next year.
Elmo is Phoebe’s cousin who is on an extended visit and the Cookie Monster works as a waiter.
Controller of CBeebies Kay Benbow said: “The development of The Furchester has been a wonderful meeting of creative minds from both CBeebies in-house production and Sesame Workshop.”
This year the BBC worked with the creators of the Muppets for its Saturday night entertainment series That Puppet Game Show on BBC One.
The puppeteer behind Elmo, Kevin Clash, resigned last year after 28 years in the role after claims that he had sexually abused under-age boys, which he denied. Three lawsuits against him were thrown out this summer and he has said he looks forward to giving his side of the story.
Clash‘s life and work had been the subject of an acclaimed documentary movie , Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey.
Danny Boyle looks set to direct a movie about the world’s most successful diamond thieves.
The Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire director is currently attached to the project, a feature film adaptation of the documentary Smash And Grab: The Story Of The Pink Panthers, reported Variety.
Danny apparently became interested in making the heist movie after watching the documentary, which was released this year.
Smash And Grab followed the diamond thieves and included footage taken from real-life surveillance cameras as well as interviews with several members of the gang.
Pathe and Fox Searchlight will co-finance the movie with the filmmaker’s producing partner Christian Colson, who will produce through his Cloud Eight Films banner.
Karen Gillan plays a writer in rom com Not Another Happy Ending
05 October 2013
Karen Gillan has insisted she forgot she was naked while filming a nude scene for new romantic comedy Not Another Happy Ending.
The former Doctor Who star plays Jane, a novelist who is hit by writer’s block, and so tries everything she can to find inspiration – including trying to write completely starkers.
Karen said: “I was really nervous beforehand – naturally I knew I’d have to sit there all day without any clothes on.
“But actually it was fine, they strategically covered me up with flesh coloured bits of material, and also it was a closed set so there weren’t loads of crew guys walking around. And everyone was just very respectful and by the end I’d forgotten that I didn’t have any clothes on.”
Not Another Happy Ending co-stars French hunk Stanley Weber as Jane’s publisher, who believes she writes best when she is unhappy, and so tries to make her miserable in a bid to cure her writer’s block.
Karen revealed she watched a marathon of classic romantic comedies as research. “I worked my way through all the great rom coms of all time. I started off with His Girl Friday and The Apartment, When Harry Met Sally, Annie Hall, I worked through quite a lot, just as research,” she said.
“And also I did this interesting thing of going on Twitter and just asking people “In one word, what type of person becomes a writer?” And I got some very interesting responses, from loads of really well-known writers as well, everyone just kind of chimed in, which was funny.”
The stylish actress and former model also helped choose her characters quirky vintage outfits. She said: “Me and John (McKay, the film’s director) came up with the idea of this Annie Hall Diane Keaton thing. And we just ran with that and it’s very much her style and I idolise Diane Keaton, and want to be her, so it’s kind of a homage to her.”
Meanwhile, Karen has just finished filming her next movie, comic book Blockbuster Guardians Of The Galaxy, for which she shaved her head to play alien supervillain Nebula.
The actress has been given her long red locks made into a wig, b ut she revealed: “It’s very creepy to wear your own hair – think about it, it is your hair but it’s not attached to you…
“I really love this [her shaved head]. I wrapped about four days ago so this is four days of growth because they would have it every day for filming but I’m just going to grow it back now and have fun with hair styles!”
:: Not Another Happy Ending opens in cinemas on Friday October 11, 2013.
Peter Jackson’s Hobbit movies have cost over £350 million to make so far
04 October 2013
The Hobbit movie trilogy has already cost £350 million (561 million US dollars) to make, it has been revealed.
The trio of films star Martin Freeman and Sir Ian McKellen and are directed by Peter Jackson. So far only the first movie in the trilogy has been released, last year’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
According to financial documents filed in New Zealand, where the movies are being made, production has so far cost £350 million, double the amount spent on The Lord Of The Rings trilogy..
The hefty figure includes the major shoots with actors, and it is thought there will be be additional post-production costs as the next two movies are completed.
However, Jackson and distributor Warner Bros might consider the money well spent, as the franchise has so far proved lucrative – The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey took in just over a billion dollars (£623 million) at the box office.
Both Box Office Mojo and Guinness World Records estimate the most expensive single movie ever made was Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End with an estimated £187 million (300 million dollar) production tag. That movie, in conjunction with Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest – which was shot at the same time – held the previous record for the most expensive total production, costing an estimated £280-325 million (450-525 million dollars).
According to Box Office Mojo, Jackson’s previous trilogy, The Lord Of The Rings, cost a total £175 million (281 million dollars) to make. Meanwhile, the Star Wars prequel trilogy cost £212 million (343 million dollars), according to Box Office Mojo, which tracks movie costs and box office receipts.
The second movie in the Hobbit series, The Desolation Of Smaug, is due out in December while the final movie, The Hobbit: There And Back Again, is due out in December 2014.
Tom Hanks has revealed he never re-watches his own movies.
The Oscar-winner insisted that seeing each of his films once was enough, and that re-visiting them would be “madness”.
He told Shortlist: “Oh, I don’t watch any of my old movies.
“The one that I might watch with great affection is a little movie I directed, That Thing You Do, which I’m not in that much. I loved doing it so much that when I watch it now it still brings a smile to my face.
“I don’t watch my own performances – who does that? That would be madness. I’ve seen all the movies once, but I don’t need to see them again, because they don’t change.”
However, Tom revealed he often keeps things to remind him of shooting his films.
He said: “It’s not usually always a prop. I do have one of the aged Wilsons ( the ball from Cast Away) with the branch stuck out of it, somewhere.
“I mostly keep coffee cups from restaurant scenes. So I have coffee cups from the Waffle Hut we shot The Ladykillers in, and I have one from the Maersk Alexander [from new film Captain Phillips]. I use them every day. I think, ‘I got this coffee cup when they made You’ve Got Mail’.”
The pair appeared together on the red carpet at their movie’s New York City premiere.
Heartthrob George, 52, told E! News that the Oscar-winner, 49, was a friend of “more than 20 years”.
Asked why they had never got together in the past, he said: “She was dating one of my best friends.
“There’s a certain bro code, you know what I mean? I’ve known her a long, long time.”
George said of The Blind Side star, who donned an asymetrical white minidress and black and white heels: “She looks beautiful, doesn’t she?”
Asked what he wanted in a woman, the actor, who has split from wrestler Stacy Keibler and was recently reported to have reunited with ex-girlfriend and Croatian model Monika Jakisic, replied: “I don’t know what qualities I would look for.”
The pair play two astronauts stranded in space in the film directed by Alfonso Cuaron.
Tom Hanks has nothing but praise for his wife Rita Wilson and describes her as his “best friend”.
The American actor married Rita Wilson in 1988 and they have sons Chester and Truman together.
He thinks the key to their long-lasting wedded bliss is knowing each other so well before becoming romantically involved. They met on the set of Tom’s TV show Bosom Buddies but only began dating after working together on the 1985 film Volunteers.
Even after all this time, the 57-year-old star is more in love than ever and has nothing but praise for his wife.
“All of our friends have been married for as long as we have, or even longer. I think it’s the way you approach it when you go into the thing,” he told British magazine Short List. “We were not kids when we met each other. We are best friends, and at the same time there are things that we do that are all of our own. She never ceases to amaze me, every single day.”
Tom has starred in dozens of renowned films during his career including The Green Mile, Cast Away and Forrest Gump. Despite winning awards for his performances and being considered one of the best actors of his generation, he deliberately avoids watching his movies back as he doesn’t feel the need to see them again.
“Oh, I don’t watch any of my old movies. The one that I might watch with great affection is a little movie I directed, That Thing You Do, which I’m not in that much,” he laughed. “I loved doing it so much that when I watch it now it still brings a smile to my face. I don’t watch my own performances – who does that? That would be madness. I’ve seen all the movies once, but I don’t need to see them again, because they don’t change.”
Tom can next be seen in biographical action thriller Captain Phillips, in which he plays hostage Captain Richard Phillips, who was held by Somali Pirates in 2009.
The British actor and actress topped the publication’s 50 sexiest male and female film stars poll undertaken by over 50,000 fans.
It is the biggest vote of its kind and took place on empireonline.com, collecting a staggering 230,000 votes from all over the world.
Benedict’s top spot was shortly followed by fellow Brit Tom Hiddleston. The pair both starred as war officers in Steven Spielberg‘s 2011 film War Horse.
Emma also beat a host of Hollywood beauties to come out at number one. Her title comes after she appeared for six years running in men’s magazine FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women.
In a close second place is Scarlett Johansson, who has previously topped various polls such as Sexiest Celebrity by Playboy Magazine in 2007.
The top five females are completed by Jennifer Lawrence, Kristen Stewart and Anne Hathaway. Anne changed her appearance drastically after filming hit 2012 feature Les Misérables, which saw her shave off her iconic long brown hair and lose a staggering amount of weight to play prostitute Fantine.
