It’s taken more than four full years since it was initially announced, but we finally have our first look at The Bob’s Burgers Movie and I very much suspect fans of the long-running Fox animated series will be satisfied with this first trailer. Nothing’s changed but the aspect ratio.

If you’re wondering why Bob is slinging burgers in front of the Wonder Wharf amusement park instead of inside his restaurant, might I direct you to the official synopsis for the film?

“The Bob’s Burgers Movie is an animated, big-screen, musical comedy-mystery-adventure based on the long-running Emmy-winning series. The story begins when a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob’s Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family’s restaurant. As the dangers mount, these underdogs help each other find hope and fight to get back behind the counter, where they belong.”

Sounds like Bob’s Burgers business as usual, give or take a UFO and a robot. But would you like to know something kind of wild? This is Disney’s first 2D animated movie to be released theatrically in America since it made Winnie the Pooh in 2011—and Bob’s only has this distinction because Disney bought 20th Century Fox in 2020.

Bob’s Burgers: The Movie features the voice talents of Kristen Schaal, H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, Zach Galifianakis, Kevin Kline, and David Wain. You may note the absence of comedian Jay Johnston, who voiced Jimmy Pesto Sr. in the TV series before it was discovered he participated in the January 6, 2021 insurrection. As far as I know, a new voice actor has not been announced, and Jimmy hasn’t shown up yet in the current season of the show. The character also isn’t in this trailer, but it’s hard to imagine such a major supporting character not playing a role in the film, especially since work on the movie began years ago and Johnston was only dropped from the series last December. We’ll see! Er, hear!

The co-producer of the Super Mario movie has confirmed that Chris Pratt won’t be replicating Mario’s thick Italian accent.

After being approached by a reporter for toofab at LAX airport, Illumination co-founder and CEO Chris Meledandri was asked how Chris Pratt was going to pull off Mario’s voice.

“All I can tell you is the voice that he’s doing for us and Mario is phenomenal,” Meledandri replied. “I can’t wait for people to hear it.”

Meledandri was then asked why an Italian wasn’t cast for the role (despite the fact that Mario’s usual voice actor Charles Martinet himself isn’t Italian), to which he replied: “Well, as an Italian-American myself I understand the comments. Charlie Day, who’s playing Luigi actually, comes from an Italian heritage. So that’s our nod.”

As for how much Pratt is going to lean into Martinet’s thick Italian accent, Meledandri stated that Pratt wouldn’t be adopting the same accent, but that the reason for this would be addressed in the film.

“We cover it in the movie,” he explained. “So you’ll see that we definitely nod to that, but that’s not the tenor of the performance throughout the film.”

Nintendo revealed during a Nintendo Direct presentation in September that The Lego Movie and Jurassic World star Pratt would be playing Mario in the upcoming CGI Super Mario movie, which is being co-produced by Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto.

In addition to Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy (Queen’s Gambit) has been cast as Princess Peach, Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses) as Luigi and Jack Black as Bowser. Seth Rogen will also play Donkey Kong in the movie.

“Mario and Luigi are two of the most beloved heroes in all of popular culture, and we are honoured to have the unique opportunity to work closely with Shigeru Miyamoto and the widely imaginative team at Nintendo to bring these characters to life in an animated movie unlike any film Illumination has made to date,” Meledandri said following the cast announcement.

Miyamoto added: “We are collaborating with Chris and his experienced team to not just create a character licensed film, but a new piece of entertainment which brings Super Mario Bros. to life on the screen, and allows everyone to enjoy whether or not they know about the game.

“The production so far is constructive and going very well, and both parties are learning a lot from each other. We humbly ask that fans wait just a little longer for the premiere, and we hope they look forward to seeing the unique characters from Super Mario Bros. on the big screen.”

Meledandri was nominated as a new outside director of Nintendo in May 2021. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa also recently indicated that Nintendo is exploring the possibility of creating more animation content featuring its other game series.

This year, its countdown started even earlier, on 22 October, and includes a record 42 original holiday films.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that there is no plan to impose lockdown as of now and there will be no lockdown if people wear masks.

He said that on Sunday the city is likely to report 22,000 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours.

He appealed to the public to wear masks and not panic.

Laurence Fox’s mystery fiancée is a 28-year-old prep school teacher who supported his ‘anti-woke’ campaign to be Mayor of London, MailOnline can reveal today.

The divisive actor turned activist, 43, announced he will marry Arabella May Fleetwood Neagle in an advert in a national newspaper before sharing the news with his 305,000 Twitter followers. 

Miss Neagle, from north London, was photographed next to her husband-to-be on his ‘Free London’ battle bus last year when he was campaigning to oust Sadiq Khan as Labour’s Mayor of London for his Reclaim Party.

She also marched alongside him in the streets of the capital when he urged Londoners to ‘Reclaim your Freedom’ in the election where the ‘anti-woke’ candidate secured 47,634 votes to finish in sixth place.

Arabella, who is yet to comment, is the daughter of a multi-millionaire businessman Paul Neagle, an investment manager and entrepreneur who lives in a £1.6million home.

She is also likely to be the mystery woman he was pictured kissing on an exotic beach in an Instagram post on New Year’s Day. 

Sharing the announcement in the Daily Telegraph, Mr Fox, a father of two previously married to Billie Piper for nine years who has campaigned against vaccines, masks and lockdown measures throughout the pandemic, tweeted: ‘She said yes.’ 

The actor, who has also railed against the Black Lives Matter movement, has two children with Ms Piper, Winston, 12, and nine-year-old Eugene.

The short announcement was originally printed in Monday’s edition of the Telegraph with the words: ‘The engagement is announced between Laurence Paul Fox and Arabella May Fleetwood Neagle.’ 

Days earlier Fox posted a photo of himself sharing a kiss with what appeared to be a mystery blonde woman, her face obscured, while relaxing on an undisclosed beach. 

An earlier photo, shared in August, saw a head of messy blonde hair resting against the actor’s chest, although the photo may well have featured one of his sons. 

Captioning the image, he wrote: ‘Luckiest man in the world.’

While little is known about Arabella, she is believed to have accompanied Fox during a London rally last May on behalf of his ‘anti-woke’ political collective, the Reclaim Party. 

Her Oxford educated father Paul is listed as Bursar and Clerk to the Governors at Woodford Green Preparatory School in London, where the Neagle family are understood to be based. 

Companies House records show he had previously served as company director for three separate businesses, of which two have since dissolved.  

Sister Lucinda, a secondary school teacher, recently shared a family photo of herself with Arabella, brother Olivier, mum Kathryn and their father, taken during a family dinner.

Fox has previously used his Twitter platform to rail against wokeness, entitlement, COVID vaccination and the Black Lives Matter Movement – pertinently the concept of taking the knee – prompting inevitable outrage and heated debate among followers. 

His most recent controversy saw his Twitter account temporarily suspended over a post about Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy which read ‘Get kneeling, f*****s’ after news broke he was being charged with four counts of rape and sexual assault.

Fox – whose illustrious acting dynasty includes his father, James Fox – was dropped by his agent last year after an appearance on Question Time in which he rowed with an ethnicity lecturer over Meghan Markle.

Back in January 2020, he accused Rachel Boyle, an academic at Edge Hill University on Merseyside, of ‘being racist’ after she called him ‘a white privileged male’ for denying the Duchess of Sussex was hounded from Britain for being mixed-race.

Their angry exchange began when Boyle said criticism of Meghan in the media had been motivated by ‘racism’, adding: ‘She’s a black woman and she has been torn to pieces.’

But Fox hit back, saying: ‘it’s not racism’ and continued: We’re the most tolerant, lovely country in Europe… it’s so easy to throw the charge of racism at everybody and it’s really starting to get boring’. 

As the row continued he quoted Martin Luther King’s 1963 ‘I have a dream’ speech about living in a nation where children ‘will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character’ on Twitter. 

He said: ‘This is the position I took last night and I live by in life. If you can improve on it, I’m all ears. Or you can keep screeching ”Racist!” at me and I can carry on having a jolly good giggle at your expense. The tide is turning’.

Fox has also waded into the anti-vax row, insisting that he could remove his children from school because of his opposition to the Government’s Covid vaccination programme.

He said he would educate them at home rather than let them be vaccinated without his consent.
