‘F9’ adds John Cena, but ‘The Fast Saga’ feels like it’s just spinning its wheels

Antonio Banderas Is Indiana Jones 5’s Latest Wild Acquisition

Harrison Ford is almost definitely back in fine form as Indiana Jones for the latest entry in the adventuring saga, because good lord, he’s swiping interesting co-stars like they’re golden idols protected by several layers of deadly booby traps.

Deadline reports that Antonio Banderas is the latest name to join the currently-filming Indiana Jones 5, directed this time by Logan’s James Mangold (who also co-wrote the script, alongside Jez and John-Henry Butterworth). Once again, as was the case with previous casting—Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, and Shaunette Renée Wilson—details about Banderas’ character and the plot of the film are currently being kept under wraps. But hey, it’s Indiana Jones, so maybe expect some adventuring, some mucking about with ancient artifacts that probably shouldn’t be mucked about with, and, I dunno, maybe some Nazis, depending on just when Mr. Jones’ newest adventure winds up taking place (they have a nasty habit of showing up uninvited over a distressingly large period of time).

Behind the cameras, though, we at least know a little more. Aside from Mangold’s involvement as director—taking over from longtime Jones helmer Steven Spielberg, who pulled out of directing the latest entry early last year—John Williams will return to compose the film, and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy will once again produce alongside Frank Marshall, Simon Emanuel, and Spielberg.

Indiana Jones 5 is currently dated for a July 28, 2022 release, but, given the continued state of the world as we know it, maybe don’t take that as a solid date for now. What do you think of the movie’s latest casting decision? Let us know in the comments!

Fans eagerly waiting for the sequel of the 1986 classic “Top Gun” starring Tom Cruise will have to wait even longer as it was among a slew of other films delayed by paramount.

Release dates for 10 paramount projects have been moved. Three of them star Cruise, and just one movie’s release date has been moved forward.

“Top Gun: Maverick” was pushed to a Nov. 19 release date from its previous date of July 2. That movie’s new date takes the spot of the release for “Mission: Impossible 7,” another action-packed film starring Cruise. “Mission: Impossible 7” has now been pushed to May 27, 2022, Variety reports.

“Mission: Impossible 8” also now jumps to July 7, 2023, from its previous Nov. 4, 2022 date.

“Snake Eyes,” a “G.I. Joe” spinoff starring Henry Golding, was the only film to receive an earlier date. The release moved up three months, from Oct. 22 to July 23.

“Dungeons Dragons,” which will star Chris Pine, “Bridgerton” alum Regé-Jean Page and Hugh Grant, was delayed nearly an entire year, from May 27, 2022 to March 3, 2023.

paramount also attached dates to four movies that were not previously scheduled for release. These include the next “Star Trek” film on June 9, 2023, a Bee Gees movie (currently untitled) on Nov. 4. 2022, and “The Shrinking of Treehorn” to release on Nov. 10, 2023.

The shifts of releases come as movie theaters around the country are starting to reopen after being closed down due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The film industry as a whole has been rocked since the global health crisis first surged last March.

This is not the first time paramount has pushed back their slate due to the ongoing pandemic. “Top Gun: Maverick” was originally set for release last year, but the company announced last July that it was moving to 2021. Only time will tell if these latest dates will stand.

Arrogance of power has gone to your head, RSS leader tells Union Agriculture Minister Tomar

Bhopal, February 6

In an apparent attack on Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar over the farmers’ protest, senior RSS leader Raghunandan Sharma has said the arrogance of power had gone to his head.

Sharma, a former BJP Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh, in his Facebook post written two days back, also suggested to the minister that he should work towards strengthening nationalism.

In his social media post that starts with the line, “Narendraji, you are part and parcel of the government,” Sharma said, “Your intention might be of helping the farmers, but if some people don’t want to be helped, what is the use of doing such good?”

“If someone wants to remain naked, what is the use of forcibly clothing him,” he said.

“If you are harbouring a thought that you are reaping the fruits of your hard labour, it is your illusion,” the 73- year-old RSS leader said in the post.

“…Today arrogance of power has gone to your head. Why are you losing the mandate? We are endorsing all rotten policies of the Congress which is not in our interest. Leakage in drops of water from a pitcher empties it. So is with the mandate,” he said.

“Employ all might to strengthen nationalism or else we have to regret. I think you might have read the indication to preserve the ideology,” he added.

Sharma described how the (RSS’s) ideology was developed with toil, sacrifice and devotion over a century for expanding its footprints, propagating service to the motherland, putting nationalism first and leading to the installation of a nationalist government at the Centre.

“Thousands of nationalists have devoted their lives for today’s nationalist government,” he said. PTI

RSS elevates Arun Kumar to Sah Sarkaryavah’s post

RSS elevates Arun Kumar to Sah Sarkaryavah's post

Bengaluru, March 20 (SocialNews.XYZ) The highest decision-making body of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS), on Saturday unanimously decided to elevate RSS Prachar Pramukh Arun Kumar to the post of Sah Sarkaryavah (joint general secreatary).

Kumar had played a crucial role in forming ‘positive opinion’ over the abolition of Article 370, which granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Another senior RSS functionary, Sunil Ambekar, has been elevated to the post of Prachar Pramukh, which was held by Kumar till now.

Ambekar, who is the author of the book “The RSS: Roadmaps for the 21st Century”, was functioning as Sah-Prachar Pramukh under Kumar for the last one year. From now on, he will be heading the information wing of the RSS.

His book, which was released in 2019 by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, is considered to be an effort to showcase the Sangh as a more forward-looking organisation.

Through Kumar, the RSS had even launched an ambitious plan to reach out to at least 10,000 key opinion makers — jurists, bureaucrats etc. — to dispel the “misinformation” related to Article 370 of the Constitution.

Kumar’s 20-page study report had argued that due to Article 370, JK had lost much in terms of central grants for legislations such as Right to Education, as well as in the case of benefits to women, tribal and backward populations.

An RSS functionary who worked closely with Kumar told IANS that his engagement with opinion makers was a first step towards removing this contentious article.

Russia announces actor and director for first-ever movie made in space

Russia is racing to become the first nation to shoot a movie in space, after it announced plans to send an actress and a director to the International Space Station (ISS) – 250 miles above earth – in October.

State news agency Ria Novosti said on Thursday that 35-year-old Yulia Peresild would star in the new movie, which will be shot in space and directed by 37-year-old Klim Shipenko.

Titled “Vyzov” (“The Challenge”), the movie will tell the story of a surgeon who has to operate on a sick cosmonaut in space because his medical condition prevents him from returning to earth to be treated.

Peresild and Shipenko, who are well-known in Russia, were selected after the country’s space agency, Roscosmos, opened a competition for applicants in November.

Peresild has appeared in a number of Russian films and TV series, while Shipenko’s 2020 movie “Serf” was one of Russia’s highest-grossing films.

Actress Yulia Peresild, pictured here in 2019, will undergo rigorous training before starring in the new space movie.

Race to space

The timing of the plans puts Russia neck-and-neck with a US team of actor Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman, who revealed in 2020 that they were working together on a movie to be filmed in space.

The as-yet-untitled movie, which has no release date, is being developed in collaboration with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Cruise will travel to space, where he will be based at the ISS, according to Deadline.

The ISS is a multibillion-dollar laboratory that orbits Earth.

It was launched in 1998 and built as a collaboration between the US, Russia and 14 other countries.

Zero-gravity training

Peresild and Shipenko will need to undergo rigorous training before traveling to space to film “The Challenge.”

From next month, along with two understudies, they will begin a preparation regime that will include training flights in zero gravity and parachute training.

They will head to the ISS from the Baikonur cosmodrome spaceport in Kazakhstan on the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft.

The movie, which has no released date yet, is being developed in collaboration with Roscosmos, broadcaster Channel One and studio Yellow, Black and White.

CNN’s Marianne Garvey contributed to this report.

Summer of Soul: New film revives lost ‘Black Woodstock’ gig series

“The Harlem Cultural Festival was an event thrown by two gentlemen, Tony Lawrence [who booked the acts] and by Hal Tulchin [who filmed it],” he tells BBC News. “They somehow managed to gather some of the mavericks of their day. We’re talking about Stevie Wonder. Nina Simone, Sly and Family Stone, Ray Barretto, Olatunji, Hugh Masekela, Edwin Hawkins Singers, BB King, comedians, politicians, everybody was there.”
