Machine Gun Kelly posts cryptic tweet about his new movie ‘Midnight in the Switchgrass’

Apparently, Machine Gun Kelly isn’t a fan of his new movie, “Midnight in the Switchgrass.”

The rapper tweeted over the weekend, “if i don’t talk or tweet about a movie i’m barely in it’s because it’s [trash can emoji].”

CNN has contacted Kelly’s representatives for further comment.

Kelly, 31, whose real name is Colson Baker, starred in the film directed by Randall Emmett. The film also stars Megan Fox and Bruce Willis and is based on a true story about a serial killer known as the “Truck Stop Killer.” It’s on this set that Kelly and Fox began their romance.

The pair skipped out on the movie’s Los Angeles premiere last week, with Fox citing rising Covid-19 cases. The film has been getting positive reviews.

Meanwhile, Emile Hirsch, who also stars in the film, took to Instagram with a screenshot of Kelly’s tweet but only had positive vibes for his costar.

“We definitely disagree here, Colson! Nothing but respect to you guys though – especially because you and Megan are so f#*king great in this movie.”

RSS chief, Premji, Sudha Murthy to speak on Covid at 4-day event

Wipro Chairman Azim Premji, Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murthy and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat are among those who will address people over four days in a televised programme organised by the Sangh to “boost the morale of citizens” amid the pandemic.

Titled “Positivity Unlimited”, the programme will begin on May 11 and go on till May 14 when Bhagwat will address the nation through electronic media.

The other personalities likely to participate include Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, Sri Sri Ravishankar, Gyandevji from Nirmal Sant Akhara and Jain Muni Prananath of Tirapanthi Jain Samaj.

Every day, two personalities will appear on TV for about 15 minutes to talk about how to stay positive and united in this hour of crisis, and how to win the battle against Covid, sources said.

“The aim is to boost the morale of the public and encourage them to fight this together. The idea is to give hope that we shall win eventually,” said the convener of Sangh’s Covid Response Team (CRT) Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmeet Singh.

“CRT is organising the programme. Supported by RSS, CRT is a collaborative initiative of multiple stakeholders across different sections of society which have come together recently to make some concerted efforts to improve the prevailing situation,” a Sangh spokesperson said.

The organisations associated with the CRT range from FICCI and CII to RSS’s Sewa Bharti and Ramdev’s Patanjali Yogpeeth.

“Some of the actions already taken by CRT are setting up Isolation Centres with around 500 beds capacity in aggregate, provision of temporary oxygen supply to patients awaiting hospitalization through seven Oxygen on Wheel having six beds each, supply of food to 28,000 families of Covid patients, especially senior citizens and economically weaker persons. It has also arranged 803 plasma donations and 1300 CT scans, and arranged 2619 cremations of persons died due to Covid. CRT has set up a Helpline involving 1200 volunteers and 130 doctors. It has already received more than 88000 calls till date,” an RSS statement said.

Top 5 War Movies for Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend is much more than cookouts and hot dogs. It’s the time for Americans to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our great country. For those brave souls and their families, thank you so very much.

A year ago, I shared my list of the top five war movies of all-time, which the staff at KSR has kindly agreed to post again. Here goes.

1. FURY

Fury’s place at number one may come as a shocker to many, but it’s my all-time favorite. The movie is based on a 1945 WWII tank crew and encapsulates the uncomfortableness that accompanies a soldier’s life. Many twists and turns are involved as the ending is solid. Brad Pitt provides an amazing performance as “WarDaddy.” The decision to fight it out on the crossroads and the unexpected peace that followed was nearly perfect.

2. MIDWAY (ORIGINAL)

I can remember watching this movie at a theatre in Lexington in 1976. Real war footage and newly invented sound effects were about too much for this young hillbilly to take. I walked out of that theatre with my mind made up that I was going to join the military. I was seven. As for the film, Midway consisted of an all-star cast and showcased the ultra-important battle in the Pacific. America’s victory at Midway is considered the turning point in World War II.

3. SAVING PRIVATE RYAN

Great movie. Just a great, great movie that leaves you speechless at the end is the only way to describe Saving Private Ryan. Tom Hanks hits a home run here and is surrounded by a fantastic supporting cast. One hidden aspect of this movie that I like is how it explains the different elements of the Army from Chief of Staff to battalion to squad.

4. THE GREEN BERETS

John Wayne’s performance was excellent. The Green Berets is a war movie that was set in Vietnam and actually filmed during the war in the same year as the Tet Offensive. Most war movies are filmed years after the fact; not this one. This film highlighted the capabilities of the Green Berets. Much like Midway, after watching this movie, I made my mind up to join the Army.

5. AMERICAN SNIPER

This Clint Eastwood production is a biographical war drama based on the life of Navy Seal Chris Kyle. Eastwood does a tremendous job painting the picture of combat stress on Kyle as well as his young family. He also brought out the entire version of Kyle from childhood to pre-Navy to warrior to PTSD. Chris Kyle is a legend. Rest in Peace. Bradley Cooper was tremendous and nailed his role as Chis Kyle.

There you have it. My list may be different than yours but that’s ok. Happy Memorial Day and God Bless America.

Azim Premji at RSS lecture: Truth and good science key to confront crisis

Industrialist and philanthropist Azim Premji said science and truth have to be the foundations to tackle the Covid-19 crisis, and the scale and spread of the pandemic need to be accepted truthfully.

Speaking during the ‘Positivity Unlimited’ series of lectures organised by the RSS-linked Covid Response Team and being aired on national public broadcaster Doordarshan National every day this week, Premji, founder of Wipro, said, “First, we must act with the greatest of speed on all fronts and these actions must be based on good science. Actions that are not based on science in reality have a detrimental effect on the cause.”

“At the core of the idea of good science is the matter of being willing to accept and confront the truth. So, we must confront this crisis, its scale, its spread and its depth truthfully. Science and truth are the foundation on which we can tackle this crisis and ensure that it is not repeated,” Premji said in his two-minute video.

He added that “in this situation, the country must come together as one” and “we must drop all our differences, understanding that this situation requires unity of action”. Together, he said, “we are stronger; divided we continue to struggle”.

He also asked everyone to come together for the economically weaker sections of the population. “We have to be absolutely focused on the plight of the most vulnerable… All our actions must give the vulnerable the priority they deserve.”

Calling the situation “heartbreaking”, Premji said, “If we are to look at villages and those in poverty, it is not only the pandemic but also the economic effects that are devastating people’s lives”.

Arguing that the country needs to create a more equal society, he stated that as the nation comes out of this crisis, “we need to restructure our society and economy such that our country does not have this kind of inequity and injustice”.

He urged “everyone of us to come together and do everything we can and more because the hour demands it”.

Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar, who also spoke as part of the programme, urged people to remember God in this hour of crisis and to avoid negative information.

Advising people not to focus on TV news about the pandemic, he said, “We should avoid negative mentality and negative things. Negative things should be reduced as much as possible.”

Premji, Ravishankar and Nivedita Bhide, Vice President of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, were the three speakers on Wednesday’s edition of the Positivity Unlimited series, which began on Tuesday. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is also scheduled to speak over the week.

Bradshaw was also positive. “The elements of silliness and deadly seriousness are nicely balanced and although I wasn’t absolutely sure about the ending, which has maybe too neat a bow tied on it, this is just very enjoyable and I was on the edge of my seat, not knowing whether to flinch or laugh, though I did both,” he said in his Guardian review.
