Weekend Box Office: Secret Agent Guinea Pigs take out “Potter”

G-Force takes the cake this weekend narrowly beating out Harry Potter. The two movies grossed just over the $30 million mark for the weekend.

In Theaters Now: Guinea Pigs and Politics take center stage.

In the Loop stars Peter Capaldi, James Gandolfini and Tim Hollander, and tells about the interactions of Britain and the U.S. over the thought of going to war.Critics and moviegoers alike have hailed this movie as being among the freshest films we’ll see this summer, and I could not agree more.

New on DVD: Coraline and Watchmen Battle it out

Coraline is the reason why CGI animation should never completely replace stop-motion because the time that was taken to make every scene of this movie perfect and for every day items to be transformed is nothing short of amazing.

Weekend Box Office: Potter does not Disappoint

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince more than quadrupled the weekend returns of its closest competitor Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Ice Age has had a remarkable showing these past few weeks, which seems to express the power of children’s movies during the summer.

In Theaters Now: ‘Potter’ Opens Unopposed

It probably comes as no surprise that what is arguably the greatest movie franchise in history has scared away any all competition with its Wednesday release. Don’t expect any big names or big movies this week, so if you’re not a Potter fan, or you were one of the thousands lined up for the midnight showing, you may be a little disappointed with what this weekend has to offer.

New on DVD: Haunting Van Wilder

This week in DVDs is a poor one; perhaps Potter has scared even the DVD’s away. The biggest movie coming out on DVD this week is Haunting in Connecticut and it’s only real release companion is Van Wilder: Freshman Year.

Weekend Box Office: Oh No Bruno

Bruno tops off the weekend, which may not be a big surprise considering the competition was a campy, ‘everything we’ve already seen before teen comedy.’
