AMC’s The Walking Dead showcases Zombies strolling from the pages of Robert Kirkman’s epic comic book onto the tv screen.  The Emmy award winning entertainment network is going to debut the series pilot on Halloween night 2010.  Winning director and writer Frank Darabont has been chosen to direct the series. 

The Walking Dead’s main character is Rick Grimes, a a local police officer from Kentucky, who together with his loved ones as well as additional survivors have pulled together as a group to attempt to make it after the entire world is overrun with zombies. The series uses the zombies much more as a focus for the character development instead of as the primary emphasis of the story.  Inevitably, the story of The Walking Dead is about how individuals react and grow following life transforming destructive incidents that changes their life.

The story starts out when Rick is wounded in a gun showdown. After he wakes up from a heavy coma, he finds out that the medical center and community are flooded with zombies.
