Observe and Report

This movie when I first saw the previews seemed like a horrible version of Paul Blart: Mall Cop and when I ended up watching it with my brother, I realized that my initial assumption about the movie was correct. Despite Family Guy’s commentary that Seth Rogen makes everything funnier I have to admit that the laughs were bigger and more genuine with Paul Blart: Mall Cop. The movie also has a sweet and gooey center that really hits home. In Observe and Report, Ronnie Barnhardt tries to beat out a hardened detective in order to catch a flasher that has been terrorizing the mall. The plot line of an over ambitious mall cop falls short of fun and funny but might appeal to the teenage crowd.

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

The latest Matthew McConaughey film takes a new spin on everyone’s favorite Christmas tale A Christmas Carol.  In this movie McConaughey plays a womanizer who has long since lost the only woman who captured his heart. When the pair reconnect at a wedding, McConaughey is taken on a journey though this romantic past, present and future in order to realise the love he was always meant to have. While most critics found the movie lacking any real orginality, it does have a few laughs and has that sickeningly sweet feeling that most women want from their chick flicks. But you may have a hard time growing to like many of the show’s characters.

Tulpan

This is one movie that you probably have not heard about but it presents a rather unique and touching story. Asa has just completed his naval service and is ready to return to the countryside and become a shepard and find a wife. The obvious choice for a bride is Tulpan, the daughter of a nearby sherparding family, but the problem is that she is not attracted to Asa because he has big ears. So will he be able to gain a bride and become a shepard or will he remain a lowly bachelor? This movie has been renowned by critics everywhere as a beautifully touching and monumental movie, even gaining a fresh rating of 98% on RottenTomatoes. Don’t miss this one.
