LAS CRUCES – Las Cruces is the scene for a second Hollywood action movie within as many weeks and again officials are alerting residents of closures and small, simulated explosions.
The latest motion picture, which was unnamed in a Film Las Cruces news release, will be filmed in town Nov. 1 through 7.
On Monday, Nov. 1 from 6 a.m. to noon, the parking lot and playground area of Young Park, at 850 S. Walnut St., will be shut down. The film will conduct a small simulation of a car explosion that will not involve a car fire or debris. A brief puff of fire will be visible before quickly burning off, a news release stated.

Filming will also take place Nov. 1 through 6 in the parking lot and interior of the Electronic Caregiver building at 506 S. Main St.
Actors will be visible at both filming locations dressed in police uniforms and SWAT gear.
News of the film comes as some Las Cruces residents have posted on social media about interactions with actor Mel Gibson in town.
According to Deadline, the movie “Hot Seat” is scheduled to begin filming in New Mexico on Nov. 1 and stars Gibson.
Officials would not confirm this is the movie filming next week in Las Cruces.

The production will employ approximately 65 cast and crew as well as additional background talent. Citizens interested in working as paid, non-speaking background actors can submit their headshot, body shot and contact information to LasCrucesFilmCasting@gmail.com.
The film production is working closely with Film Las Cruces and the City of Las Cruces.
“Knight” filmed in Las Cruces last week, with production closing a few streets and intersections downtown to capture a simulated bank heist and standoff filmed at the Bank of the West BNP Paribas building at 201 N. Church St. The production team filmed an explosion in front of the building on Friday afternoon.
“Knight” is directed by Ed Drake and might star Bruce Willis as the two have collaborated on at least four other films in the past two years. Residents have reportedly seen Willis around town.
Neither Willis nor Gibson could not be reached for comment.
