Friends : the world is  a changing . More specifically, the world of television is changing . And even more  importantly , the  realm  of children’s  television shows  … is evolving . What I am talking about are the types of characters,  types of themes , and  the types of stories  of cartoons  during the period when  my parents were kids verses the cartoons that my little sisters watch. Even  the children’s  cartoons  that I  watched as a  child were  a lot different  from the cartoons  enjoyed my parents and sisters.

My  father was  talking to me the other night that she used to  enjoy  the cartoon “Strawberry Shortcake” when she was a  small  girl; a  made up little strawberry themed  character  that was  seen  onchildren’s holiday cards  and, eventually made int dolls  and various  trinkets .  In fact , Strawberry Shortcake resurfaced in 2009 as atelevisionseries; …it all  becomes full circle.

Now, when I was  little , growing up in the  late 1990’s / early 2000’s – a popular children’s  television  show was The Wiggles. Imagine someone  took  the Beatles,  and then tried resetting  all of their brains back to 2nd  grade, and then giving them  bright   t-shirts  … then you have  Wiggles. However,  not one  children’s show creeps me out more than Yo Gabba Gabba , a show where the  featured characters  are  huge and colorful and puppet-like  creatures. Yo Gabba Gabba was  made   by a guy named  Christian Jacobs;  frontman  of an punk rock  group   named The Aquabats . The show is insane ;  its filmed  so  ridiculously  that it seems like a music video for MGMT – not to mention that MGMT  is actually  responsible for half of the  shows  soundtrack ! Even Jack Black was featured on an episode. I went to my  family’s  house the other day  and even  saw my sister playing with Yo Gabba Gabba toys; she  really loves it. Honestly, the show speaks for itself so, all I’m going to say is:  please go  watch an episode, you won’t forget it.
