RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday watched Bollywood movie ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ and said, “We are now looking at history from India’s perspective”.
He also described the movie, starring Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar in lead roles, as “world class”.
“It is a fact-based movie and rightly sends out the message the country needs today. We used to read our history written by others. Now, we are looking at history from India’s perspective,” Bhagwat, who watched the movie along with other top Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders, said.
Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the movie’s director, works closely with the Sangh-affiliate Sanskar Bharti.

This is another new take on the book, as they already made the The Time Traveler’s Wife movie, with Eric Bana Rachel McAdams, which first opened in 2009. This new series stars Rose LeslieTheo James as the couple dealing with the challenges of random time travel. For those unfamilair with this, it’s not so much of a story about time travel as it is a romance about the difficulties of finding and staying in love. “Every moment matters,” the tagline states. The cast also includes Jason David, Kate Siegel, Jaime Ray Newman, Josh Stamberg, Taylor Richardson, Spencer House, Michael Park. Wow this looks damn good, I quite like the way into gets into all these existential questions between the two of them. “Why is love intensified by absence?”

The Narendra Modi government should take immediate steps to stop targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits and migrant workers in Jammu and Kashmir and relocate them to secure places within 24 hours, the Congress said on Friday.
Separately, senior leader and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, interacting with reporters in Raipur, questioned the silence of BJP leaders over “the killing of Hindus” in Kashmir valley.
“They used to trumpet the removal Article 370 in JK, broke the State into three parts and imposed Governor’s Rule. Now, why are Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus being killed? Who will take responsibility for the killings of the Pandits and Hindus?” asked Mr. Baghel.
“They had the time to watch the movie Kashmir Files, but now when people are actually being killed, the BJP-RSS [Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh] people are silent. The important thing is that their strategy has completely failed,” the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister added.
Rajya Sabha member Vivek Tankha, who introduced himself as a Kashmiri Pandit at the party’s briefing, urged the Modi government to inform the country of the steps taken to restore peace. He also asked the government to take other political parties on board to restore a sense of confidence among the panic-stricken people.
“Today, people are being killed inside government offices, and even government offices are not safe. Please take them to secure places and put security around them,” he said.
Mr. Tankha said that there were over 10,000 non-Kashmiris working in the Kashmir Valley and they needed to be assured if the government did not want them to flee.
“When the issue was debated in Parliament, I had said that Kashmir issue is larger than Article 370, which was a mere law that was diluted as well. To address Kashmir, you need a lot of statesmanship and it was lacking. If you want peace and amity, then you have to address stakeholders,” he said, without spelling out who he meant by stakeholders.
Apart from security, the Congress as well as other Opposition leaders demanded compensation for those who died in the recent targeted killings.
Shiv Sena deputy leader Priyanka Chaturvedi wrote to Home Minister Amit Shah asking for compensation for the victims and an investigation into the killings.
“In view of the current situation in Kashmir, I request you to provide adequate security to the Hindu community in Kashmir. Considering the gravity of the situation, I also request you to order an investigation into the recent killings by a competent authority,” the Sena MP wrote.

Toronto Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner was the victim of a carjacking in Toronto on Monday evening, the team has confirmed.
The team says the hockey player was unharmed in the incident.
“The Club Mitch are thankful for Toronto Police Services’ support,” the Leafs said in a tweet Tuesday.
The team said police have asked that neither Marner nor the club comment any further on the details of the incident “as this is an ongoing investigation.”
Toronto police tweeted they were called to The Queensway and Islington Avenue area around 7:46 p.m. for reports of a man robbed of his car.
Police are searching for three suspects armed with two handguns and a knife, who took off in a black Range Rover outside a movie theatre.

Police said there were no injuries, but would not give any information out on the victims or witnesses.
At a new conference Tuesday, Insp. Rich Harris told reporters that detectives are working on the case “feverishly,” and said the victim complied with the demands of the carjackers, though he did not identify Marner by name.
Harris said Toronto police have seen 60 carjackings already in the city this year, compared to 59 in all of 2021.
“These are nearly all sold for profit,” he said, adding that police have made 20 carjacking arrests this year.
He also said there is usually a level of sophistication with these types of crimes in the city, with some stolen vehicles ending up being shipped overseas.

Toronto Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner was left unharmed after being carjacked at gunpoint outside a movie theatre on Monday night. He’s the latest victim in a wave of carjackings targeting high-end vehicles across the Greater Toronto Area.

Marner’s teammate Jason Spezza reflected on the carjacking Tuesday morning.
“It’s scary, that’s life. That’s not hockey,” Spezza said.
The incident comes a day after York Regional Police released a video about car hijackings being on the rise in the Greater Toronto Area.
In the video, the force in the region north of Toronto says thieves are typically following cars when they park, ambushing drivers when they exit their cars and stealing their car keys by force.
It also notes that the heists often involve high-end brands like Mercedes Benz, Audi and Porsche.

In a Toronto Police Service board meeting earlier this year, the service reported that auto thefts were up 58 per cent between 2017 and 2020 and up another 8 per cent in 2021 compared to 2020.
In 2021, about 80,000 vehicles were stolen across Canada, a one per cent increase from the previous year, according to Equite Association, an organization formed from the investigative branch of the Insurance Bureau of Canada and CANATICS, which analyzes auto thefts across the country.
The big targets were cars with push-button ignition systems, which are the vast majority of vehicles on the road, officials said. High-end cars were also targeted, but so too were reliable, abundant vehicles like Honda CR-Vs and Civics.
The Lexus RX350, the 2019-2017 models, were the top three stolen cars in Ontario in 2021, Equite said.
Honda, Lexus, Range Rovers all targeted
In Toronto, the Honda CR-V was the top car stolen last year, with 654 nabbed, followed by the Lexus RX350, with 418 taken. Range Rovers and Toyota Highlanders were also among the most stolen.
Police are advising all drivers to be aware of their surroundings and to call 911 if they suspect they are being followed.
Marner and the Leafs were eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday in a seventh and deciding game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

This looks like it could either be ravishing, or a complete mess. Up to you to decide if it looks like it’s worth watching, or skipping.

“You can’t fight the state.” Film Movement has revealed an official US trailer for a Bulgarian BW indie dark comedy titled Fear, made by a classic Bulgarian actor turned director named Ivaylo Hristov. This first premiered at the 2020 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival a few years ago, and also played at the Santa Barbara Film Festival. It won the Jury Prize at the Kazan Festival of Muslim Cinema, an Audience Award at the Sofia Film Festival, plus Grand Prize in Tallinn. Svetla, a widow who lost her job recently is living next to the Bulgarian-Turkish border. There are many cases of refugees in her village due to it’s location. One day she meets a refugee from Africa and this changes her life. It’s a story about love, but also a story about fear. The film stars Svetlana Yancheva, Michael Flemming, Kristina Yaneva, and Ivan Savov. It is also Bulgaria’s submission to the 2022 Academy Awards, but it didn’t end up with a nomination this year.
