Robert Pattinson says he lived off money from ‘Harry Potter’ role

  • Robert Pattinson told GQ that he “spent a lot of time living off the ‘Harry Potter’ money.”
  • Pattinson starred as a Cedric Diggory in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”
  • The actor said that he focused on music after “HP” and “ran out of money, basically.”

Robert Pattinson said that the money he earned from his role in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” gave him a comfortable life for a few years.

“I spent a lot of time living off the ‘Harry Potter’ money,” Pattinson said while discussing his most iconic roles in a new video for GQ that coincided with his March 2022 cover story. “I moved to an apartment in Soho in London.”

Pattinson portrayed a Hogwarts student named Cedric Diggory from the Hufflepuff house in the fourth “Harry Potter” film that was released in 2005. “Goblet of Fire” marked his theatrical film debut, after his role in the movie “Vanity Fair” had been scrapped.

The actor told GQ that after “Harry Potter,” he was convinced he was going to pursue music.

“I don’t know where I had the kind of belief in that, because there was absolutely no one saying that there’s any kind of music career on the table,” Pattinson said. “But I was doing a lot of gigs all the time. I was just constantly doing open mics all the time, and then I ran out of money, basically.”

“I was definitely going in the wrong direction in terms of a career, up until ‘Twilight,'” he added.

Following his “Harry Potter” role, Pattinson appeared in movies like “Little Ashes” and “How to Be.” The aforementioned films were both released in 2008, the same year that Pattinson starred as a vampire named Edward Cullen in “Twilight,” a big-screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s fantasy novel of the same name.

Pattinson performed two songs, “Never Think,” and “Let Me Sign,” for the “Twilight” soundtrack.

The success of the first “Twilight” movie, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, resulted in four sequels released between 2009 and 2012, based on Meyer’s novels: “New Moon,” “Eclipse,” “Breaking Dawn: Part 1,” and “Breaking Dawn: Part 2.”

After the final installment was released, Pattinson steered away from Blockbuster or franchise movies and focused on smaller films helmed by directors he was a fan of, like Claire Denis (“High Life”) and Robert Eggers (“The Lighthouse“).

Next, he’ll star as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” in theaters on Friday, March 4.

Why Daniel Radcliffe Doesn’t Want to Star in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Movie

Daniel Radcliffe won’t be making a trip to Platform 9 ¾ anytime soon.

The Harry Potter star told The New York Times in a recent interview that he would not be interested in returning to the wizarding world for the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the play that’s currently on Broadway and in six other cities around the globe.

The Times noted that movie director Chris Columbus wants to have Daniel reprise his role, then asked where he would “stand” on returning for a new film.

“This isn’t the answer that anybody’s going to want, but I think I was so able to go back and enjoy it because it’s not a part of my day-to-day life anymore,” Daniel said. “I’m getting to a point where I feel like I made it out of Potter OK and I’m really happy with where I am now, and to go back would be such a massive change to my life.”

However, he did offer a glimmer of hope for fans in the future.

‘Harry Potter’ star Tom Felton collapses during celebrity golf tournament

Tom Felton collapsed during a celebrity golf tournament in Wisconsin on Thursday.

The 34-year-old actor, best known for playing Draco Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” franchise, was seen looking a bit disheveled in pics obtained by Page Six, however it is currently unclear why he languished.

Photos show Felton on the ground at the Whistling Straits golf course in Kohler, surrounded by a group of people. Following the incident, Felton was escorted off the course in a cart, where appeared still conscious but lying down on a stretcher.

We’re told Felton collapsed on the 18th hole during a practice day. Reps did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

The actor was joined at the event by a number of other celebrities, including Mandy Rose, Toni Kukoč, Mike Eruzione, Stephanie Szostak, A.J. Hawk, Dan Jansen, Kelly Slater and Sasha Vujačić.

Felton has not yet commented on the incident — occurred just one day after he celebrated his 34th birthday — via his rep or on social media.

“33 years done – good lord it’s been so much fun getting here – yet, somehow, I still feel the best is yet to come,” Felton wrote on Instagram Wednesday. “Thank you all for your love, support sense of humour – let’s keep a good thing going – to the next 33 xx.”

“Not me, not Hermione, you:” the annual Harry Potter Muggle Shuffle commences

Arguably one of their biggest events of the year, Madison Social and Township held their annual Harry Potter bar crawl on Feb. 5.

Initially, Madison Social started hosting Harry Potter trivia nights back in 2014, and once they realized how large the turnout was, they knew they could host an event even larger. Thus, the Muggle Shuffle was born.

The bar crawl was first introduced back in 2016 and has been an annual tradition ever since.

“The event originally started back in 2016 as part of the Tallahassee Brew District that we created with Proof, GrassLands, Brass Tap and ourselves at Madison Social and Township,” said the bars’ director of Marketing, Eric Pounders. “After the Brew District dissolved, we decided to keep it going knowing that it had become an event people looked forward to every year.”

‘Harry Potter’ still a generational classic after 20 years

The adventure all began when the first Harry Potter movie was released in theatres on Nov. 14, 2001. Every kid growing up in the early 2000s who instantly recognizes the instrumental theme song “Hedwig’s Theme,” composed by the legendary composer John Williams, are known as a Potterheads or followers of the Harry Potter series.

Let’s face it, as little kids, many of us used anything from twigs to hairbrushes or even our own hands to try and make those spells work. Spells like “Wingardium Leviosa,” otherwise known as the levitation spell, was one my favorites. I practiced and practiced, hoping someday I would get my letter to Hogwarts!

The Harry Potter series is full of fantasy, wizards, witches and spells. There are also mystical creatures like goblins, dragons, trolls, unicorns and even a Cerberus. Everyone has a favorite creature. Some like Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback, a dragon  Hagrid raised in the first movie, while others like Aragog the Acromantula, the giant spider Hagrid raised since it was a baby. Or some like Buckbeak, a Hippogriff from the third movie. My personal favorite was Fluffy, the three headed Cerberus in the first Harry Potter movie. Hagrid purchased him off a Greek chap in a pub one day.

A generation watched as Harry Potter first got his letter, delivered personally by Hagrid from Hogwarts on Harry’s eleventh birthday. There were several attempts to deliver it prior, but none of them worked due to Harry’s less than pleasant Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia interfering with Harry receiving his mail. Finally, Harry took his first steps through Platform 9 ¾.

We watched as the Sorting Hat placed him into Gryffindor house, just like his parents. He made friends with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger who were fellow first year students at Hogwarts in the Gryffindor house. They take their first classes at Hogwarts, make friends, make enemies and save everyone from a troll. They safely conquer Voldemort for the first time while Harry holds a certain precious object in his pocket after completing a series of difficult obstacles with Ron and Hermione.

Year two, “Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets,” opens with Harry meeting one of my favorite characters, Dobby the house-elf. He warns Harry not to return to Hogwarts. After being rescued by Ron, they return to Hogwarts and run into a bit of trouble with a Whomping Willow Tree.

Strange occurrences happen around Hogwarts, such as a teacher’s cat becoming petrified, dealing with Moaning Myrtle in the bathroom and Harry getting beat up by a bludger in a game of Quidditch. There is a rumor spreading quickly that the heir of Slytherin is none other than Draco Malfoy, which is later proven false. Harry finds a journal that belonged to Tom Riddle, the true heir to Slytherin. Harry uses the journal to fight the Basilisk, a giant serpent that kills people who dare look it directly in the eyes. The Basilisk is defeated and Harry is reunited with his friends.

Year three in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” Harry runs into some trouble when he makes a family member blow up like a balloon and fly away, even though he’s not supposed to do magic outside of Hogwarts. Harry learns that Sirius Black, a convicted inmate held in Azkaban, escaped!

Dementors protect Hogwarts, though Harry runs into a little trouble with them along the way. Hagrid becomes the new Care of Magical Creatures professor, and in his possession is Buckbeak, a hippogriff who unfortunately must be put down after a student irritates it to get it upset and attack.

Eventually, Harry and his friends use a time turner to repeat the night. They had to retrace their steps and solve a mystery without seeing their other selves. The true story of Sirius Black will be uncovered and will reveal more than Harry is ready to hear!

Year four, Harry and company return to Hogwarts for the school year. A Tri- Wizard Tournament is taking place, and students put their names in a raffle to be champions to compete. There was an age requirement of at least 17 years old but in an odd turn of events, the Goblet of Fire chose Harry to compete. He will have to deal with dragons, a maze of terror and sea creatures galore!

During the games came a ball at Hogwarts. Everyone can get dates but Harry and Ron. Hermione goes to the ball with Viktor Krum; Ron and Harry end up taking twins Padma and Parvati Patil. The Dark Lord is back and on a killing spree, and Voldemort is trying to kill Harry again; will he succeed?

In year five, “Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix,” anxiety is high as Harry realizes where loyalties lie. Few know the truth on what happened with “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.” Dolores Umbridge takes over as Defense against the Dark Arts professor but is not exceedingly popular due to her very obscure ways of teaching. Harry raises a large group of students to rally against her to fight for what is right! “Dumbledore’s Army” will rise to the occasion and fight to learn spells to help them prepare for the real world; well, the magic world that is.

Year six, “Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince,” emotions are high, and Hogwarts is not safe for students anymore. Dumbledore trains Harry to fight his battle with Voldemort (I know I said his name, sorry). Life just got a bit harder for Harry, now that the Dark Lord hid his own soul into seven different Horcruxes. But what are Horcruxes and where can you find them?

Love is in the air for Harry who has fallen in love with Ginny, Ron’s younger sister. Ron dated Lavender Brown for a while. Hermione seems to be falling for Ron, watching the friends struggle to save each other, their friends and school. Harry vowed after a certain accident that he would not be returning to Hogwarts so that he could finish what must be done.

Year seven takes place in “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2”. Harry, Ron and Hermoine are out on their own fighting to take down the Dark Lord all together. They must find the Horcruxes, all of them to help stop “You-Know-Who.” Watch as the ultimate battle takes place; whose team are you on? Who will succeed? Will Harry stop “He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named” in time or will evil win?

This cultural phenomenon is perfect for anyone who enjoys fantasy. For the past 20 years kids and adults of all ages have enjoyed these classic films and I predict this will not go away anytime soon. Get your robes and sorting hat and watch this beloved classic series, practice your spells and let your imagination do the rest.

Four Fun Video Games to Play When Bored

Boredom is an unpleasant aspect of life which creeps in every once in a while. Different people have different ways to beat boredom depending on their interests. For some, it could be as simple as taking a walk outside. While for others, making their favourite dish or watching an action movie or playing in a casino through kolikkopelit suomi can do the trick.

However, one of the best ways to beat the boredom is actually playing a fun video game. Below we have listed a few such games that are highly amusing and fun.

1- The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a hugely famous video game. It will keep you entertained and you will feel like you have got good value for your time and attention.

This popular video game is based on the comedic science fiction series of the same name. It was released in 1984 and was designed by Douglas Adams and Steve Meretzky.

Some gamers think that it is a little difficult but almost everyone agrees that the game is very interesting and fun. The protagonist of the game is Arthur Dent who tries to solve a number of puzzles to complete various objectives of the game.

2- Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is also a highly amusing game.People can play it for free but they can make in-app purchases to make the game more fun.

It is based on the famous Harry Potter series. A gamer can do a lot of interesting things in this game. For example, one can cast magic spells, attend classes etc.

It was first released in 2018 for Android and iOS devices. Many of the famous actors who performed in the movie series provided their voices for the game.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery received mixed reviews from the critics. The game’s use of the wizarding world was praised but many commentators were not very impressed with the microtransactions present.

3- The Secret of Monkey Island

The Secret of Monkey Island is a point-and-click adventure game that was first released in October 1990. It was developed and published by the American video game licensor Lucasfilm Games.

The video game is set in the fictional Caribbean during the age of piracy.

Gamers control Guybrush Threepwood who wants to become a pirate and explores fictional islands while solving different puzzles.

The Secret of Monkey Island was originally conceived by Ron Gilbert who worked for Lucasfilm. Along with Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman, Ron designed it in a way that made the death of the player’s character nearly impossible. This put the emphasis more on exploration in the game.

The Secret of Monkey Island became a big hit among critics who raved about its humours, audiovisuals and gameplay. Many considered it as one of the greatest video games of all time. There are several sequels of this video game, collectively called the Monkey Island series.

4- World of Tanks

World of Tanks is a multiplayer warfare game that is highly amusing and fun. It was first released in August 2010 and was developed and published by the Belarusian video game company Wargaming Minsk.

The amazing video game features 20th century era combat vehicles. World of Tanks has a freemium model where gamers can play for free. However, they also have the choice to use certain features by paying a certain amount. Some gamers are satisfied to just play the game for a while but others like to enjoy every aspect of it. You might have come across sports fans who like to know everything about their favourite game, even messi asperger. While others are satisfied to just enjoy the spectacle on the weekends. World of Tanks received generally favourable reviews, with critics praising its attention to details and combat. It also generated good revenue for Wargaming with their net profit exceeding 6 million euro.

Hogwarts Legacy art book could point to a September release date

An upcoming art book could point to the release date of Hogwarts Legacy.

“The Art and Making of Hogwarts Legacy” is set to be published by Insight Editions on September 6, 2022.

As spotted by The Rowling Library, the book is authored by Jody Revenson, who has previously written “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore Movie Magic” and “Harry Potter Paper Craft”.

September 1 is the date in the Harry Potter books that students return to Hogwarts, making a September release fitting.

Developed by Avalanche Software (Disney Infinity), Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books.

Due to be published by Warner Bros. under its Portkey Games label, Hogwarts Legacy was originally scheduled to be released in 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.

Last year, Warner delayed the game’s release window to 2022.

The possibility of a further delay to 2023 was raised by journalist Colin Moriarty during a recent podcast, in which he claimed: “I’m hearing behind the scenes that game is not coming out this year, and that it’s in some sort of trouble.”

However, an official update on Wizarding World Digital stated that “the Hogwarts Legacy video game will be arriving this year”.

It reads: “2022 is also the year when the highly anticipated console game from Warner Bros. Games’ Portkey Games label, Hogwarts Legacy, is set to be released.

“Developed by Avalanche Software, this action RPG allows players to be at the centre of their own adventure set during the late 1800s wizarding world.

“From learning powerful spells and brewing potions to honing combat skills and taming magical beasts, this game will allow players to experience the magical world as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry like never before as they determine the fate of the entire wizarding world.”

EA reportedly cancelled a Harry Potter MMO because it didn’t think the brand had staying power

An MMO based on the Harry Potter series was in production at Electronic Arts but was cancelled due to the publisher doubting the longevity of the franchise, it has been claimed.

Kim Salzer, who served as EA’s director of product marketing from 2000-2003, at a time when the publisher held the rights to make Harry Potter games, made the revelation during a Twitch interview with streamer The Real Brandolorian.

When asked about a game that she was involved in that she was excited about but that ultimately never saw the light of day, she mentioned the Harry Potter MMO.

Notice: To display this embed please allow the use of Functional Cookies in Cookie Preferences.

“A big one for me, because I was so personally involved in it, and it’s such a huge IP that has lived on is an online massively multiplayer game for Harry Potter,” Salzer said.

“We did all the research, we had the beta built out, it was a combination offline/online experience where we’d actually mail stuff to the kids, like prizes and ribbons and stuff like that.

“Thoroughly researched, very confident in the success of this. But it was killed, for lack of a better term, because EA was going through changes at that time and they just didn’t know or believe enough that that IP would have a shelf-life longer than a year or two.”

In January 2021, Warner Bros. Games delayed its Harry Potter RPG, Hogwarts Legacy, into 2022.

In a statement published on social media at the time, the publisher thanked fans for their “tremendous reaction” to the game’s announcement the previous year and confirmed the new release window.

“Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us so we are giving the game the time it needs,” its statement read.

In a recent interview, Warner Bros. hinted that Hogwarts Legacy may be released in late 2022.

Rachel Wakely, Warner Bros. general manager, spoke to Toy World magazine about the Wizarding World IP, in which she referred to “two major releases in 2022”. The first is the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbeldore, she said, which releases in the UK on April 8. The second is Hogwarts Legacy.

“From what we’ve seen, the launch will be well worth the wait and deliver a unique way for fans to interact with the franchise”, she said.
