The contract dispute verdict was less positive for Morrow, with the judge finding he acted in breach of his director duties and engaged in misleading or deceptive conduct by not informing Murray of his plans for a new ABC show.
DON’T MENTION A DRAW
Murray was out claiming victory after the judgment was handed down, telling CBD he expects to receive a $620,000 payout with a decision on legal costs to come later. The verdict, he insisted, was anything but the draw it may appear on the surface.
“This should never have gone to court, and we have now been vindicated,” Murray said, making no attempt to disguise his enmity for his former collaborator. “The court has called [Morrow] out on his terrible behaviour.”
Dismissing the defamation payout as a “slap on the wrist”, he continued: “The judge did say I overstepped the mark on one of my emails to the ABC (hence the $35K defo award) but the judge found he suffered no damage from that remark and every defo lawyer I’ve spoken to can’t understand why he gets anything. Oh well.”
