Actress Letitia Wright, who is reprising her role as Shuri in the upcoming sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was rushed to hospital after an accident on set
Letitia Wright was rushed to hospital after injuring herself filming a stunt for the new Black Panther movie.
The 27-year-old actress, who plays fan-favourite Shuri, was taken to hospital in Boston with minor injuries following the incident on the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
A spokesperson for Disney confirmed on Wednesday that the Guyanese-born British actress had been injured and was receiving treatment in a hospital close to the set.
“Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon,” the statement read.

While details of the extent of her injuries were not released, Letitia was reportedly released from hospital just a few hours later, according to Deadline.
A source told the outlet that the actress was involved in the incident during an overnight shoot which involved a stunt rig while on location in Boston.
A rep for the star has yet to comment on the report.
Production for the highly-anticipated sequel has been based in Atlanta since June, and Letitia’s trip to hospital will not have any impact on the film’s tight current production schedule.
Letitia is reprising her role as Shuri, the genius younger sister of Black Panther/T’Challa, who designs new technology for Wakanda, as well as her superhero big brother.

The actress also appeared as Shuri in two more films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the follow-up to the 2018 Marvel film, which starred the late Chadwick Boseman as the titular superhero.
The critically-acclaimed box office smash, directed by Ryan Coogler, raked in more than £1.1 billion worldwide.
Chadwick tragically passed away in August last year, following a secret battle with colon cancer. He was just 43, and his death devastated fans around the world, as well as his former co-stars, who had no idea about his ill health.
Fans had pleaded with Marvel boss Kevin Feige when news of the sequel was announced, as they urged him to avoid recasting the role of Black Panther, which was made famous by Chadwick.
It was finally confirmed that there would be nobody else playing the role of T’Challa in the follow-up, and the movie will instead focus on Wakanda instead.

Coogler is returning to helm the sequel, with Joe Robert Cole helping him pen the script, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to be released in July next year.
Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba and Angela Bassett are also reprising their roles for the eagerly-awaited follow-up, which was also nominated for six Oscars.
And according to Variety, I May Destroy You creator and star Michaela Coel has also joined the cast of the sequel in a role that has so far been kept under wraps, while Dominique Thorne, who plays superhero Ironheart in a new Disney+ series, will also appear.
