Cassel called upon Ben Crowe, the man who helped Barty and her fellow Wimbledon champion Dylan Alcott prepare mentally before their Grand Slam triumphs, to assist in framing the mindset of his performers to get them through the lockdown.

“I’ve been seeing Ben for a while now and frankly, without him, I’m not sure how I would have been able to get to this point. He has been a huge help for me to deal with what is an overwhelming situation, which is very difficult to navigate and full of uncertainty,” Cassel told PS.

Following her win last Saturday night, according to Barty’s father, the Barty-Crowe connection was integral to the world No.1 adding a Wimbledon trophy to her French Open success two years ago.

“You know she used to speak to her first coach, Jim Joyce, about things like this [winning Wimbledon], but then she went through a period where she didn’t want to tell people what she was thinking or what she was aiming for,” Rob Barty told the Herald.
