Actor Jonah Hill prank called staff at top U.S. retailers in character as Long Island, New York swindler Donnie Azoff to get used to the fake teeth he had to wear in “The Wolf Of Wall Street.”
The “Moneyball” star admits he struggled to speak clearly when he first adopted his look for the Martin Scorsese film and an on-set accent coach suggested he spend two hours a day talking with his teeth in place.
Hill says, “I had this really difficult accent and lisp and I had these big fake teeth and I couldn’t talk. … You couldn’t understand what I was saying, so, for a month and a half beforehand, our accent coach was like, ‘You’ve got to talk with these things in for two hours every day.’
“No one from my life is gonna sit with me (to do this), so I would call Target and Best Buy as Donnie, and just talk about different products for an hour and a half every day.”
